The Law on Protection of Public Health (“Public Protection Law”) is the basic law regulating health care matters in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

As one of the most important parts of medical care, the Medicines Ordinance 45 is subject to the Medicines Act (“Arzneimittelgesetz”).

The law was fundamentally amended in 2016-17, particularly about drug advertising. Furthermore, before these reforms, the rules regulating the prices of state-registered medicines and controlling these prices were adopted.

How is the production of medical medicines and medical devices regulated?

It should be noted that when conducting licensed business activity only in the regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan according to Article 23.2 of the Law on State Obligations, only 50% of the state fee is payable.

Neither unregistered medicines nor unregistered medical devices may be manufactured in Azerbaijan.
