Overview of the pharmaceutical companies in Jordan

The first pharmaceutical manufacturing company, Al-Arabiya Company for Pharmaceutical Products, was founded in 1962 and represented the entire Jordanian pharmaceutical industry until the mid-1970s.

In the second half of the 1970s, new companies were added: Dar Al Dawa’a for Development and Investment was founded in 1975, followed by AlHikma Pharmaceuticals in 1977, and then Jordan Company for the Production of Medicines in 1978. In the eighties, the Arab Center for the Pharmaceutical Industry 1983 was founded, followed by Amman Company and United Company, which  was created in 1989

Six pharmaceutical companies reported another $ 55.6 million in exports of $ 55.6 million in December 2016.

The Jordanian pharmaceutical industry has overcome many obstacles and challenges and achieved remarkable successes.

From the analysis of the structure of the Jordanian pharmaceutical industry, it can be deduced that it is characterized by a high degree of concentration and by the existence of barriers to entry, which may be due to the increase in the market size of the companies and their merger has led to greater monopoly power so that few large pharmaceutical companies generate the largest market share.

Furthermore, companies in this industry focus on product specialization and differentiation. Therefore, this industry is closer to an oligopoly with an enormous market force.

Pharmaceutical Companies in Cambodia are divided into a  variety of providers, including public health centers, pharmacies, private hospitals, and professional medical service providers.

The latter usually operate from their facilities or travel directly to the patient’s homes. Private providers and qualified pharmacies are mostly present in urban areas.

Two-thirds of public health workers also work separately in some private capacity. In addition, several health centers and charity hospitals run by NGOs offer services.

Pharmaceutical Companies in Cambodia; An Overview

As of June 2019, Cambodia had 2,803 registered pharmacies, 446 drug import/export companies and branches, and 19 medical manufacturing facilities. Markets and traditional midwives and traditional healers.

In 2017, the Cambodian market spent around US$1.1 billion on universal healthcare and US$296 million on pharmaceuticals.

The public sector plays a leading role in the promotion and prevention activities for basic reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and pediatric health and control of major communicable diseases. However, private doctors remain popular for curative care.

According to the 2014 Cambodia Demographic and Health Survey, only 21.9% of sick or injured patients first sought help from public sector facilities, while 67.1% did so from private healthcare providers.

Within the private sector, private pharmacies in urban areas were the most frequent sources of treatment (60%) and clinics were the most common source in rural areas (23.5%).

Most high-income people and some middle-income people seek medical treatment abroad for complex cases or emergencies, mainly in Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore.

Only companies authorized by the Ministry of Health are allowed to import medicines, medical supplies, or medical devices.

As of June 2018, Cambodia had 2,516 registered pharmacies, 405 drug import/export companies and branches, and 19 medical manufacturing facilities. In addition to the formal market, there is a gray market for contraband medicines, which are often counterfeit.

 Best Prospects Subsector

The Department of Health is the single largest purchaser of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and medical equipment, but the share of healthcare provided by the private sector is increasing.

Several new private hospitals and clinics have opened in recent years and more are expected in the future, offering potential opportunities for the sale of medical supplies and equipment.

Health insurance aimed at the growing middle class would meet unmet demand as governmental and non-governmental organizations increasingly target the poorest sections of the population, and the wealthiest sections of the population buy policies from international insurance companies. SMEs, on the other hand, have relatively few reliable insurance offers.

Opportunities

With US-made drugs and medical devices being well received here, there is great potential to increase market share. Large local pharmaceutical importers are eager to import US-made products.

As of June 2016, Cambodia had 13 pharmaceutical companies to supply local and overseas markets.

The volume of imported medicines has increased over the past years and is expected to continue to increase.

Unarguably, health insurance companies in Michigan are doing excellently well for the residents of the state.

A saying goes thus, a healthy state is a wealthy state” and this could be true for the state of Michigan. The last we checked, more than two million Michigan residents enrolled in Medicaid healthcare.

Also, a little over two hundred and seventy-six thousand buy themselves individual health care in Michigan’s healthcare marketplace. Over a million residents got their healthcare coverage from their employers.

Now, no law in Michigan state punishes you if you don’t have health insurance. Still, almost the whole population has gone out of their way to ensure their health. Talk about a state that takes its health seriously, talk about the state of Michigan.

Speaking of health insurance companies in Michigan, there are different types of them. And as they are different, so are their services.

Firstly there are some very affordable health insurance companies in Michigan and there are very expensive health insurance companies too.

However, being affordable does not mean they do not offer very good healthcare services to their consumers.

More so, aside from the privately-owned healthcare companies in Michigan, the government provides free and very low-cost healthcare services for families and individuals who can not afford to use the private healthcare marketplace.

Since 2013, more families opted for the free healthcare plan, and that has greatly reduced the number of residents without healthcare coverage in the state.

Health Insurance Michigan

The healthy state of Michigan has lots of companies working with the state to keep the residents fit and healthy.

Firstly, most of the privately-owned health insurance companies are now linking up with the state to make healthy living easier.

Again, these companies have reduced the price of health care coverage to the lowest for the benefit of the people.

Also, the bonuses that welcome you once you enroll can be very encouraging. Health insurance in Michigan is very beneficial because they are all working towards the good of the people.

However, before you choose a health insurance plan, you should be aware that your age determines the cost of health plans.

Meaning that, as you get older, your premium place becomes more expensive. Then you decide on your location because, even though it’s still the same state, prices of health care plans vary in counties.

So, from your county, you can now look around and pick an affordable and quality health care insurance plan. One that has benefits attached to it, a working coverage for you.

As you know, health plans are bought in metal tiers like Catastrophic, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Platinum.

Gold and platinum plans have higher and most expensive monthly premiums but the cheapest out-of-pocket expenses like deductibles.

Silver plans are perfect for you if you can’t afford the all high expensive plan. It has affordable premiums and out-of-pocket costs are very low.

Bronze and Catastrophic plans have the cheapest monthly health plan rates. This is the most preferable plan for you if you are still young and healthy. However, the catastrophic plan can not be accessible for anyone above thirty years.

In 2022, almost all the health insurance plans in the state of Michigan decreased by 2%.

By the way, you can still go for the short-term health plan but like the name, it will even vanish before you blink again and exhale.

In essence, short-term plans provide coverage for just one hundred and eighty days and in Michigan, renewal can be prohibited.

However, you have to enroll with a different health care provider in other to purchase another one. Again, short-term plans do not cover most of your health needs.

Free health insurance in Michigan

The state of Michigan provides free health care insurance plans for its residents through Medicaid and Medicare. However, you have to enroll and become eligible before you can access the services.

If you want to enroll in the government’s free health care plan, you have to go through HealthCare.gov. The plan can cover both families or individuals who are retired, unemployed or broke.

Medicaid

Medicaid is a health plan coverage jointly managed by the federal and state government. The program aims to provide free or very low-cost plans for low-income families and individuals. Medicaid is also for good for pregnant women, children, the elderly, and the disabled.

Firstly, for you to enjoy this free medical health care plan, you have to meet some requirements

  • Be a citizen of the United State.
  • Apply in the state you live in and prove that you are broke.

You can apply for your free medical care through the health care insurance marketplace or you get it directly from your state Medicaid agency.

MIChild

MIChild is a health care insurance program for children under the age of nineteen. This program is provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

It was created for children that are uninsured because of their family’s low income. Also, it has a $10 monthly premium for all the children in one family.

A child benefits from this program by having vision, dental and mental health services once they enroll.

Medicare

Medicare is another federal health insurance program for individuals of 65 and above. Also, Medicare was created for people with long-term disabilities.

Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act(ACA) which is sometimes referred to as Obama Care came into existence in March 2010. This has helped lots of people to become more in tune with their health.

Also, it helped the state of Michigan record a very high drop in people without health care coverage. So, a lot of families and individuals that could not afford private health care insurance became and stayed insured.

With the affordable care act, you will be able to be in control of your health. Since they signed it into law, young adults can now remain on their parent’s plan until they turn twenty-six.

To conclude, health insurance companies in Michigan should be applauded for ensuring that they give their best to this state.

If not, how else can you explain the excellent and satisfying services they provide to the residents? How else will you explain the high average of insured people in the state even without any penalty for not being insured?

More so, the government of Michigan deserves an accolade too. This is for keeping a vibrant, health-conscious, and a healthy state. Like we said in the beginning, a healthy state is a wealthy state, and that state is Michigan.

Best 32 pharmaceutical companies in Afghanistan

The pharmaceutical companies in Afghanistan have a significant impact on the livelihoods of all Afghan citizens.

Research has shown that a significant portion of the income of the poorest households is spent on health care, including travel to public health facilities, use of private clinics and doctors, and the purchase of medicines.

An AREU report on rural livelihoods found that health was the second-biggest expense for many households after nutrition.

Families can end up spending much more than is needed to treat a sick relative and can seriously jeopardize the long-term health of the individual and, in turn, the productivity of the family. The poor were least served by the private pharmaceutical sector in Afghanistan.

Top Pharmaceutical use in Afghanistan

Since 2002 the number of donated medicines has increased dramatically in Afghanistan. It is estimated that medicines donated in-kind or purchased with monetary donations account for between 20 and 30 percent of the medicines used in Afghanistan.

The remaining 70-80 percent of medicines not supplied by donors come from the private sector. Assuming a population of 25.

million, the private pharmaceutical market in Afghanistan could be worth as much as $200 million per year.

It is difficult to grasp the current size of the private pharmaceutical market as it is believed that many importers and wholesalers are unregistered. Smuggling is a major problem in the pharmaceutical sector. Both branded and generic drugs are sold in the Afghan market. The term

“generic” has been legally defined in France as “a copy of an original drug manufacturing and marketing of which is possible thanks to the expiry of the patent for the innovative product.

Every drug on the market has a chemical name and an International Nonproprietary Name (INN) or generic name (e.g. Ampicillin). manufactured or sold. INNs are assigned by the World Health Organization (WHO). The manufacturer chooses a protected trademark. For

most common drugs, there are several brand-containing drugs containing the same active ingredient such as paracetamol.

Gaps in Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical sector

  1. Many pharmacies are not licensed
  2. Many pharmacies operate without a qualified pharmacist or even a pharmacy technician on-site (one study showed that only 14% of pharmacists are qualified pharmacists)
  3. Medicines are often sold unpackaged, ampoules (no leaflet), often  expired
  4. Prescription drugs are sold over the counter and often directly to children
  5. Regulations on the physical condition of pharmacies and their coverage are often not followed (eg pharmacies are very often located in central urban locations and there are a limited number of pharmacies in rural areas), pharmacies often do not list the full range of essential medicines
  6. Inspections of pharmacies are infrequent and random, and when they do occur, are carried out by a multitude of inspectors from different agencies and not according to a specific inspection protocol)
  7. There is no evidence of use (there have been no reported pharmacy closures due to non-compliance with regulatory requirements).

Development of Local Pharmaceutical Industry  and Trade Policies

Just a decade ago, Afghanistan produced most of its pharmaceutical needs domestically and even developed an export market.

Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical industry,  strong between the 1970s and early 1990s, has been severely damaged by the many recent conflicts in its history.

There are currently two credible foreign-owned manufacturers and a large pre-existing state-owned manufacturer (the latter is in a run-down state but is attempting to revitalize its manufacturing base in line with international manufacturing standards).

There is also a large number of small-sized pharmaceutical manufacturers that are 100 percent Afghan-owned and are growing in number.

Afghanistan also produces many herbal ingredients that are exported for use in herbal medicines; In 2010, “medicinal plants” were exported to the value of US$28.6 million, accounting for 7% of total exports.

Therefore, the development of local production of herbal medicines makes sense, since the country is a reservoir of potentially valuable herbal active ingredients with cultivation experience.

There are programs to support the local production of essential medicines. Due to its landlocked location, the cost of importing bulky essential medicines can be prohibitive and in excess of international reference prices, and its porous borders make import control difficult.

Therefore, there is real justification for developing the local pharmaceutical industry. Industries that can help meet the country’s basic drug needs and that require the establishment of effective import substitution policies.

Conclusion

The pharmaceutical sector in Afghanistan is one of the least developed in the world for various reasons, operates in a chaotic faction, and suffers from many weaknesses covering the full range of activities in this sector.

The presence of substandard and counterfeit medicines on the market is likely to be significant and should be viewed as a public health threat that requires urgent attention.

Health Insurance Companies in Alaska: All You Need to Know About Health Insurance in the USA.

Getting sick in the USA is not a cheap pleasure. The healthcare system in the United States is the most expensive in the world.

For each inhabitant of the country, the government spends about $15,000 a year, and the annual turnover of the amount to pay for medical programs costs the state $3 trillion.

The state pays health insurance only for poor citizens, the disabled, the elderly, and other needy.

In this material, we will consider the health insurance system in the United States: what is its cost, and what are the ways to apply for it?

What Is Health Insurance and Who Needs It?

Health insurance in the United States is a contract with an insurance company, under which you pay a certain amount to the insurance company every month, and it, in turn, takes on part of the medical expenses in case of your illness.

Medicine in America is very expensive, so insurance cannot be neglected. Another strong argument in favor of running away and entering into a contract is that according to the Affordable Care Act, health insurance is mandatory for all legal residents of the country. For its absence, even a fine is provided (on average, $350-400).

For reference: US citizens, green card holders, refugees, persons who have received political or humanitarian asylum, as well as holders of non-immigrant visas (including work and student visas) are considered legal residents.

How to Get Health Insurance?

Depending on your life circumstances and income level, health insurance in the USA you can:

  • Purchase it independently;
  • Part of the costs is borne by the state;
  • The state pays the insurance in full;
  • The employer pays insurance, fully or partially.

What Are the Types of Health Insurance?

HMO – health maintenance organizations. The cost of health insurance in the United States of this type is the lowest. All because of the very limited number of doctors and medical institutions that you can visit.

You will need to be treated in the same network and you will have a primary physician who will make referrals to other specialists. Coverage does not include out-of-network services, except for emergency medical care.

PPO – preferred provider organizations. The network of institutions is still present, but it is much wider. You can be treated both in the institutions of the network and outside it (but the conditions in the network will be much more favorable).

In addition, you do not need to take a referral to specialists; they will accept you with and without insurance. Buying health insurance in the US of this type will cost much more than all the others.

There are also other, less popular types of insurance. Point-of-service (POS) means that by using the services of doctors and hospitals from the network, you will pay less. An Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) is the same as an HMO, only without the primary doctor and mandatory referrals to specialists.

Insurance coverage can be obtained in one of the following ways:

  • An employer-sponsored health insurance program.
  • A health insurance program paid for by the spouse’s employer.
  • A health insurance plan paid for by the parent’s employer, provided the insured is under 26 years of age.
  • Paid insurance program. Individual health insurance may cover spouse and children. This program is also available through the Affordable Care Marketplace (ACA).
  • Renewal of COBRA insurance. COBRA is a law that gives people the right to renew coverage under an employer’s insurance program after a job loss, death of a spouse, divorce, or loss of dependency coverage. COBRA lasts up to 18 months.
  • Public health programs such as Medicaid or Medicare, provided the subject is eligible if they fall into a certain category. Medicaid is a state and federal insurance program for low-income individuals and families. Medicare is a program for people aged 65 and over and for young people with certain disabilities. Moreover, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) covers children from low-income families.
  • Short-term health insurance program. Most Americans now have access to these kinds of programs. They have limited benefits, but a low insurance premium. The duration of such a plan is one year (participants can request an extension twice).
  • Association health insurance program. Small companies and individual entrepreneurs, when combined, can purchase general health insurance. This program is not expensive and offers some benefits.

From 2016, employers with at least 50 employees must provide medical benefits to 95 percent of their full-time employees (those who work more than 30 hours a week) or pay a fine. Coverage is for employees and their dependents, but not spouses.

What Are Insurance Plans and How Much Does it Cost?

Depending on the percentage of coverage of medical expenses, there are five basic insurance plans:

  • Platinum – about 90% is paid by the insurance company;
  • Gold – the insurance company pays about 80%;
  • Silver – the insurance company pays about 70%;
  • Bronze – the insurance company pays about 60%;
  • The minimum insurance – designed for emergencies only and is available only to persons under 30 years of age or to those who can confirm that they are in a difficult financial situation.

It is also worth remembering that insurance plans differ in many important points. There are:

  • Co-pay (a fixed amount that you pay for each medical service, and the rest is covered by the insurance company);
  • Deductible (the amount that you need to spend before the insurance coverage);
  • Co-insurance (you pay a certain percentage of the cost, the rest is the insurance company);
  • Out-of-pocket maximum (the maximum amount, after spending which during the year you begin to receive 100% coverage from the insurance company).

Dental and eye insurance are traditionally purchased separately. Dental services include only children’s medical insurance in the United States.

The cost of insurance for the most part will depend on your income, region, and chosen insurance plan. For example, Kaiser Permanente HMO insurance in 2016 for a family of one will cost from $160 (minimum insurance plan) to $315 (platinum plan) per month. To calculate the cost directly for you, use the special Shop and Compare Tool calculator on the official Covered California website.

Where to Buy Insurance?

You can buy health insurance in the US through the Health Insurance MarketPlace. This is such an insurance market. There is a national resource, but some states have their own websites.

Some states operate their own exchanges, while the rest of the states operate their own exchanges through the HeathCare.gov website.

You can go to HeathCare.gov and find a link to a state-specific market, or call 1-800-318-2596 for information.

The state exchange can be contacted for:

  • Requesting financial assistance,
  • Comparing health insurance programs in a particular area,
  • Purchasing a policy.

Although the exchanges are government-run, they also offer private health insurance programs. In addition, the exchange can be used to find out if a person is eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

When to Buy A Health Insurance?

insurance in the US A health policy is purchased or modified during open enrollment. Most Americans get a policy through their employer.

Different companies have different periods of open registration, so the exact dates of registration are clarified directly with employers.

Medicare open enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7. The Medicaid program does not have a specific period, so enrollment is possible all year long, unless, of course, the insured is eligible for the policy.

The annual open enrollment period for individual and market health insurance programs in most states run from November 1 to December 15.

If the policyholder misses the policy purchase deadline without special circumstances, then he will have to wait for the next open enrollment period next year.

Special circumstances that allow enrollment outside a certain period include; marriage, loss of health insurance policy, the birth or adoption of a child, moving to an area with other health insurance programs, or other unforeseen circumstances that affect eligibility for financial assistance to purchase insurance coverage.

Best dental implant types

Dr. Chuwkuebuka | January 30th, 2022

The different dental implant types serve as replacements for a missing tooth’s root. This “artificial tooth root” then holds a replacement tooth or bridge in place.

A dental implant fused to the jawbone is the closest thing to a natural tooth because it stands on its own without affecting neighboring teeth and has excellent durability.

The process of fusion between a dental implant and the jawbone is known as “osseointegration.” The majority of dental implants are titanium, which allows them to integrate with bone without being recognized as a foreign object in our bodies.

What types of dentists are there who specialize in dental implants?

Any licensed dentist can perform implant surgery as long as the treatment adheres to the standard of care and is in the best interests of the patient.

However, because implants are surgically implanted in the jawbone, dental specialists who routinely perform surgery within the jawbone are an obvious choice for implant surgery.

Oral maxillofacial surgeons (oral surgeons) treat all hard and soft-tissue diseases and defects, including Tooth extraction and jaw surgery

Dental Implants last how long?

The implant screw itself can last a lifetime with regular brushing and flossing, assuming the patient has regular dental check-ups every 6 months. The crown, on the other hand, usually only lasts about 10 to 15 years before it needs to be replaced due to wear and tear.

Maintaining good dental hygiene and using it sparingly, on the other hand, could extend the life of the crown beyond 15 years.

Overview of the Different Types of Dental Implants

Technology and science have advanced over time to significantly improve the outcomes of dental implant placement.

Dental implants now have a success rate of nearly 98 percent. let’s take a look at the different Dental Implant Types.

Endosseous (Endosteal) Implants

The most common type of dental implant is endosteal. They are occasionally used in place of a bridge or removable denture. Endosteal implants can be screwed (threaded), cylindered (smooth), or bladed. Your prosthodontist can advise you on the best type of dental implant for you.

Endosteal implants are the safest, most effective, and widely used option today. Endosteal implants begin by drilling into the jawbone and inserting a titanium screw that serves as an artificial root.

You must wait for the soft tissue and bone around the root to heal before proceeding with the treatment. This is usually a couple of months.

Endosteal implants are well known for producing the most stable, natural-feeling results.

An endosteal implant is installed by screwing it into the jawbone, which requires adequate jawbone health and density.

If you have a naturally narrow jawbone ridge or one that is short, narrowed, and worn down as a result of trauma or disease, you may not have enough bone to support an endosteal implant properly. A subperiosteal implant may be an option in this case.

Subperiosteal Implant

Subperiosteal implants are rarely used nowadays. They were previously used primarily to keep dentures in place in patients with insufficient bone height. You can visit Dental Implant London for the latest implants.

Subperiosteal implants are placed on the jawbone within the gum tissue, with the metal implant post visible through the gums to hold the denture in place.

Treatment: The overall treatment process for subperiosteal implants is completed in two appointments and is frequently a much shorter treatment plan than for endosteal implants.

Stability: Because the implant does not go into the jawbone but rather rests on top of the bone and is held in place by only one screw, subperiosteal implants do not have the same level of stability.

Zygomatic implants

They are the least common type of dental implant that you can get. It is the most difficult procedure and should be performed only if you do not have enough jawbone for the Endosteal implant. Instead of the jawbone, the implant is placed in the patient’s cheekbone.

Various Dental Implant Methods

Depending on the strength of your jawbone and your specific situation, there may be implant alternatives that work well.

These types of dental implants can be used instead of or in addition to traditional types. The following are examples of common dental implant methods:

Immediate Load Dental Implants (also referred to as Teeth in a Day):

Immediate load implants allow you to leave your appointment with a full set of teeth rather than the usual healing time.

The teeth you receive at first are only temporary until the implant heals and you have enough healthy bone contact to support a permanent prosthetic. This can be an excellent way to restore your smile as soon as possible.

All-on-4 (or 5 or 6)

This is a great option for people who have lost most or all of their teeth due to decay or gum disease.

It enables you to place implants without the need for bone grafting by using a set of temporary teeth that are placed the same day or very soon after.

Single-tooth implants are ideal for people who only have one or two teeth or a few teeth are missing

A single implant can bridge the gap, resulting in a seamless appearance and perfectly functioning teeth.

Multiple Implants

If you have several missing teeth that are causing larger gaps but do not require a full mouth replacement, you can use multiple implants in only the areas where there are large gaps.

Two-Stage Dental Implants

This is the standard procedure for the above-mentioned dental implants. The first day consists of a surgical procedure to insert the implant into the jawbone.

Minor surgery is performed several months later to attach an abutment and tooth (crown).

Single-Stage Implants

These are similar to two-stage implants, but the implant healing cap remains visible, allowing the abutment and temporary restoration to be attached without surgery to make the head visible (top of the implant).

Mini Implants

These are small or narrow-diameter implants that can be used to stabilize a lower denture using less-invasive techniques. Mini implants can prevent a lower denture from “floating” or shifting on its own.

It is critical that the top of the mini implant be properly positioned so that there is enough space for your denture!

The opportunity to place replacement teeth where they belong for your smile should not be squandered by mini implants that are too tall or poorly positioned, nor should the denture base holding the teeth be too thin or too thick in critical places!

Materials Used in Dental Implants

The first requirement for dental implant materials is that they be long-lasting as well as powerful. The physical property should be compatible with the strength of the dental implant materials and their design.

Titanium and zirconia are the most common dental implant materials, each with its own set of advantages.

Titanium

For many years, titanium has been regarded as the most popular type of dental implant material.

Researchers discovered that titanium metal implants help the bone grow properly because when they are in contact with the bone and are not disturbed, the bone grows next to them.  This contributes to the development of a long-term bond.

Titanium dental implants have been the most popular implants because they provide long-lasting results at an affordable price.

Zirconia

In comparison to titanium, zirconia is a relatively new innovation that is regarded as having a very promising future in dental implant materials.

The use of Zirconia implants for full abutment was seen in the early 1990s, but titanium implant materials were still popular at the time. In 2003, the first all-in-one crown made of dental implant materials was introduced. Despite being relatively new, zirconia dental implant materials are gaining popularity.

Other dental implant materials

Abutment: The abutment attaches to the implant and holds the crown in place.

Crown: A crown is a ceramic false tooth that sits atop the abutment and mimics the appearance and function of a natural tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions about dental implant types

Here are the best answers to the questions most people have been asking about the types of dental implants.

What is the purpose of a dental implant?

Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all teeth. In dentistry, the goal of tooth replacement is to restore function as well as aesthetics.

What is the cost of a dental implant?

The cost of a single dental implant varies depending on where you live and who performs the procedure. The conservative cost estimate for a single dental implant is $3,500-$4,500.

This price includes the surgery for implant placement, all components, and the implant crown.

Are Dental Implants Covered by Insurance?

Dental implant placement is typically not covered by insurance. Some dental insurance policies may cover the implant crown portion of the procedure.

Unfortunately, dental insurance often considers dental implants to be an elective procedure, despite the fact that they have become the standard of care for replacing missing teeth.

Dental implants have become a popular tooth replacement option due to their conservative approach and predictable results, with success rates approaching 98 percent.

What are the risks, complications, and issues associated with a dental implant?

There are always risks and potential complications with any surgery.

Careful planning is important to ensure that a patient is healthy enough to undergo oral surgery and heal properly.

Just like any oral surgery procedure, bleeding disorders, infections, allergies, existing medical conditions, and medications need careful review prior to proceeding with treatment.

Is dental implant surgery a painful procedure?

Dental implant surgery is typically performed under local anesthetic, so there should be no pain during the procedure.

After the local anesthetic has worn off, each patient’s post-surgery discomfort will be unique.

However, most people will experience post-surgery discomfort similar to that of tooth extraction.

To help reduce swelling, a cold ice pack is applied to the skin over the surgical site immediately after treatment.

What kind of aftercare is required after getting a dental implant?

Dental implants are susceptible to a condition known as “peri-implantitis,” which is similar to periodontal (gum) disease in natural teeth. Inflammation of the gums and bone surrounding the implant is referred to as this.

Excessive biting forces on the implant or bacterial infection are common causes of inflammation of the surrounding tissues.

What causes dental implants to fail?

When properly cared for, dental implants provide a long-term replacement for missing or damaged teeth, but there are a number of conditions or situations that can cause an implant to fail prematurely.

Patients with diabetes or other pre-existing medical conditions, such as cancer, are more likely to have their implant fail.

In dental implants, as previously stated, as the gums and neighboring teeth are still vulnerable, regular brushing and flossing are required.

Gum disease can be caused by poor oral hygiene, which can also have a negative impact on the success of a dental implant.

Conclusion

We all want a lovely smile, don’t we? As a result, we recommend that you consider dental implants to replace missing adult teeth.

Both of the above implant types are viable options. Although endosteal implants are best suited for the majority of patients, subperiosteal implants may provide exceptional results for others. However, your dentist is in a better position to choose the right implant for you.

Most importantly, consult with your dentist. Their advice will help you make the best decision for your mouth and lifestyle.

6 Myths About Medical Sales

So, it’s high time to dive deeper into all perks of this profession, therefore, let’s speak about major myths related to this job. At the end, you would have the perfect answer to Is medical sales a good career.

  • Myth 1: “A medical sales has a very high salary”

Of course, large pharmaceutical companies for the most part provide employees with competitive wages and a good social package.

However, there are also companies on the market that are ready to offer medical representatives remuneration that is much more modest and less attractive working conditions.

So, in some of them, the medical representative is not provided with a corporate car: the employee has either to use a personal car for work or use public transport.

Unfortunately, there are also employers who use gray pay schemes, companies that do not provide bonuses and where medical representatives sometimes have to invest their own money in marketing activities.

Thus, before accepting a job offer, it is necessary to carefully study the employment contract and discuss such details with future employers.

  • Myth 2: “Doctors prescribe drugs for money or gifts”

Often when asked how a candidate could influence the increase in sales of the company’s drugs, we hear about the material motivation of doctors.

In some cases, this may become one of the tools of medical sales. However, many companies strictly monitor the observance of ethical business practices, the policy of such companies forbids medical representatives not only to stimulate the increase in sales through gifts to doctors but also to pay opinion leaders to travel to international conferences or give lectures.

The work on drug promotion is based, first of all, on the professional interest of the doctor in the treatment of his patients, and the task of the medical representative is to clearly and convincingly inform the specialist that the company’s drugs are really successfully coping with this task.

  • Myth 3: “I want to work as a medical representative because I like communicating with people”

This is one of the typical answers of applicants to the question “Why would you like to work as a medical sales?”

The work of a representative is not just to communicate with people. The main goal is to convince the doctor to use the company’s products in his practice and, as a result, increase sales.

Mere communication – in the broadest sense of the word – will not achieve this goal. Communication with the doctor should be held at a high professional level, using various sales techniques. A high degree of involvement in the process is required from the medical representative.

In a word, if a candidate in the work of a medical sales is attracted solely by the opportunity to “communicate with people”, this may indicate that he is poorly aware of the specifics of this profession.

  • Myth 4: “You can become a medical representative only if you have a higher medical or pharmaceutical education”

In fact, higher specialized education is no longer a mandatory requirement for applicants in many pharmaceutical companies, including those included in the “big pharma”.

Trends in the labor market are such that, first of all, employers pay attention to the availability of relevant competencies and experience in sales. Thus, today it is quite possible to build a career in a pharmaceutical company without a specialized education.

  • Myth 5: “A medical sales has a free work schedule”

The work schedule of most medical sales is standard: an 8-hour working day and a five-day working week with two days off.

It is also worth considering that this profession is characterized by numerous overtime – a medical representative can conduct marketing activities on weekends, fill out reports after work, meet opinion leaders and escort them to the airport at any time of the day or night.

The huge number of business trips should also be taken into account. In addition, each medical sales has a schedule of visits (the number of visits can vary from 8 for a key account manager to 13-15 for a simple medical representative).

Many companies track the location of their employees, so there are very few chances to “skip” work, and there is no need to talk about a free work schedule.

  • Myth 6: “They will teach me everything”

Many applicants applying for the position of a medical sales really believe that they should not have any special knowledge and skills, believing that they will be taught everything as part of corporate training.

This is not true. Companies do provide training for employees, but you should not take them as a training program from scratch – in fact, they are aimed at honing existing skills and gaining additional (not basic!) knowledge.

Top 39 Pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar

The Pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar are thriving from $600 million in 2016, and estimates are made that this number will almost double to over $1 billion by 2023, which explains the premise of this industry.

At the same time, the government is issuing stricter regulations in terms of transparency and quality assurance.

This will trigger a huge wave of investment, but not as risky as other neighboring countries due to Myanmar’s slower aging population.

Myanmar is known to have one of the poorest healthcare systems in the region and to address this, the government has increased spending on the health sector and introduced three National Health Plans (NHPs).

Aware of the numerous challenges and needs of the industry. , including a shortage of health care providers, poor data collection, and unreliable health insurance policies, the Department of Health and Sport (MOHS) has set an ambitious goal of achieving universal health coverage by 2030 by focusing on three main elements: population coverage, coverage of Services and Financial Protection.

To achieve this goal, MOHS established the National Health Network with the goal of providing access to better services and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for Burmese citizens.

In 2019, Myanmar Health Workers launched a five-year strategic plan (2019-2023) for the improvement of the public health sector in Burma with the aim of implementing 12 public projects in 76 municipalities in the states and regions of the country including disease control, reproductive health, maternal, child, newborn, and adolescent health, and nutrition campaigns.

However, these ambitious plans were severely hampered by the COVID19 pandemic and the February 1st coup d’état.

Challenges Faced by Pharmaceutical Companies in Myanmar

Myanmar’s healthcare industry is facing a significant shortage of facilities, technology, qualified nurses, and health reports.

Health education providers may find business opportunities in Myanmar as training and capacity-building services for medical workers are in high demand.

Myanmar lags behind in medical technology, from poor management of patient records to advanced diagnostic treatment methods. Limited internet connection coverage in remote areas makes telemedicine services difficult.

Myanmar has a very competitive pharmaceutical market compared to other ASEAN countries and the market attracts a growing number of foreign pharmaceutical companies and is dominated by imports.

Myanmar imports about 80 percent of medicines from other countries. According to a local market research agency,  total drug spending in Myanmar has increased by 11 percent every year, with the value of the drug market expected to reach $1.1 billion by 2023.

Conclusion on the pharmaceutical companies

With the slow opening of the Myanmar market,  significant growth potential can be achieved. To date, a large number of medicines are imported from India, Thailand, Bangladesh, or China.

The government opened the manufacturing sector just recently in 2013. There are currently about ten manufacturing plants under construction or already in operation.

The government is faced with the task of establishing clear regulations combined with a transparent procurement policy that promotes domestic drug production.

This will help tackle some of the challenges faced by pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar.

types of Sphygmomanometers

Best types of Sphygmomanometers

Dr. Chuwkuebuka | January 27th, 2022

The different types of Sphygmomanometers would be thoroughly looked at since it is among the essential devices used in medical practice.

The modern lifestyle has made various fitness dangers inclusive of high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, and different common cardiovascular situations an increasing number of not unusual.

Picking the right sphygmomanometer is a smart desire that we all do not have to forget every day, for an ideal living.

What is a sphygmomanometer?

A sphygmomanometer is an instrument used to measure the degree of blood strain which is likewise called a blood stress meter or blood strain gauge or blood pressure monitor.

The word sphygmomanometer is derived from the Greek phrase ‘sphygmos’ which means beating of the heart or the pulse and manometer imply the tool used for measuring the pressure or anxiety.

This instrument was invented by Samuel Siegfried Karl Ritter von Basch in the year 1881. But in the year 1896, Scipione Riva-Rocci added a simplified version of the sphygmomanometer.

Advancements within the sphygmomanometer, or blood stress gauges as they’re also often known as, had been pretty impressive over time.

Medical devices have come to be extra specialized, and numerous styles of sphygmomanometers have become available in the market.

TYPES OF SPHYGMOMANOMETERS

Following are the three foremost varieties of sphygmomanometer:

  1. Mercury Sphygmomanometer
  2. Aneroid Sphygmomanometer
  3. Automatic Digital Sphygmomanometer
  • Mercury Sphygmomanometer

The mercury sphygmomanometer is the most conventional form of blood strain equipment, and it could be considered the golden standard inside the health enterprise.

Mercury sphygmomanometers are made of manually inflatable cuffs which might be connected to measuring gadgets with mercury-infused tubes.

While operating the device, it’s really crucial to place the apparatus on a flat floor and in an upright position to get the correct readings. These devices are very sensitive and require unique care, and if by chance dropped can cause a rupture of mercury, rendering the tool vain and doubtlessly risky.

The largest benefit of the usage of mercury sphygmomanometers is that they’re quite smooth to apply, and if used well, can remaining an entire life.

The device can produce the most accurate outcomes without requiring a good deal readjustment. Due to the toxic nature of its contents, but, using mercury sphygmomanometers has been banned in some international locations, and different kinds of sphygmomanometers are being used as an alternative.

  • Aneroid Sphygmomanometer

Aneroid way “without fluid,” and because the call suggests, this form of BP apparatus doesn’t make use of any mercury and is consequently taken into consideration the safest alternative to mercury sphygmomanometers.

Its recording strategies are quite just like that of the mercury sphygmomanometer, besides the stethoscope’s attachment to the cuff.

In the android tool, the cuff is attached to a dial gauge with tubing. The gauge head includes mechanical components that convert the cuff stress into gauge-based studying. Additionally, there are numerous other styles of aneroid sphygmomanometers relying on how they’re used.

These may include :

  • pocket-aneroid sphygmomanometers
  • palm aneroid sphygmomanometers
  • clock-fashion aneroid sphygmomanometers

Ultimately, the benefit of the usage of aneroid sphygmomanometers is the affordability of the apparatus, as well as its compact and accessible nature.

However, similar to other devices used to check the degree of blood pressure, aneroid sphygmomanometers employ a delicate mechanism and consequently necessitates careful coping with.

Aneroid sphygmomanometers additionally require recalibration with the aid of specialists, to keep away from cases of defective studying.

  • Automatic Digital Sphygmomanometer

The automatic digital sphygmomanometer is the maximum technologically superior sphygmomanometer design so far.

These devices use a digital stress sensor to measure blood pressure, and the readings are offered on a virtual show.

Similar to mercury and aneroid sphygmomanometers, digital sphygmomanometers also come with inflatable cuffs, however there may be a distinction within the manner for measuring blood strain.

Unlike the other two kinds, computerized virtual sphygmomanometers evaluate and measure the fluctuations of arteries. These gadgets are perfect for home use as they may be the easiest to perform.

To avoid the hazard of inaccurate readings, periodic counter tests with conventional mercury sphygmomanometers are endorsed.

FAQs on the types of Sphygmomanometers

Below are the most suitable answers to the FAQs on the about the various types of sphygmomanometer;

Are digital sphygmomanometer results accurate? Yes, the results produced by the digital sphygmomanometer are accurate however, repeating the test process is recommended for assurance and validation of the result.

What are the different Parts of sphygmomanometer?

Bladder:

This is an inflatable bag this is used to compress the arm to occlude the artery. To make sure complete arterial compression, bladders have to have specific sizing parameters.

Cuff:

This is designed to keep the bladder around the arm all through the dimension. For correct dimension, the cuff have to be designed properly with respect to placement and the placement.

Manometer:

This is a tool used to degree the air pressure in mmHg. The manometer used in an aneroid sphygmomanometer includes an eye-like motion to measure the air stress carried out to the cuff. To increase the diaphragm, the gauge has a series of copper or beryllium and there are gears to transform the linear movement of the diaphragm to get the readings in mmHg.

Valve:

This used as a deflation valve to control the cuff. This plays a essential role in getting an correct measurement.

Bulb:

This is used to pump the air into the cuff.

Among the manual and digital sphygmomanometer, which one is mostly recommended in hospitals? This is based on individual difference and preference, however, priority is mostly to the manual sphygmomanometer.

Why is Sphygmomanometers important for household? Monitoring one’s blood pressure is a obligation not just of medical doctors and physicians, but of each person alike.

Having abnormal blood stress degrees, whether or not improved or dropped, are positive caution signs and symptoms of ill fitness, and checking for these abnormalities is an critical step in the direction of the prevention of high blood pressure, stroke, or heart assault.

Therefore, households as lots as clinics and hospitals must spend money on the right sphygmomanometers for common use.

when was sphygmomanometer invented? It was invented in 1881 by von Basch and the device was the first non-invasive BP measurements.

Which arm to measure blood pressure right or left? This is the choice of your healthcare provider to make. Both arms can give an accurate reading of the blood pressure when the proper guides are considered.

How to Use Sphygmomanometers

In using sphygmomanometers, processes vary in step with the type and form of sphygmomanometer used, but all types perform on a single precept.

A bulb will increase the stress via inflating the cuff placed round one’s arm, and a valve releases the stress. During this technique, a stethoscope is used to concentrate to arterial blood glide sounds.

As the heartbeats, blood going through the arteries causes a upward push in strain, which speedy decreases while the heart’s ventricles prepare for some other beat. This upward thrust and fall are known as systolic and diastolic stress, respectively.

Steps for accurate blood pressure measurement

Below are the essential steps to  follow in order appropriately degree one’s blood stress:

  • Know your simple expertise of blood pressure readings

Blood strain readings are expressed as systolic over diastolic stress. The regular blood strain of a median healthy grownup is 120/80.

  • Use proper-sized cuffs

Cuffs which can be too loose or too tight might also influence the accuracy of blood pressure measurements. The cuff have to be eighty% of the circumference of the upper arm. Be sure not to tighten the cuff on a clothed arm.

Properly tight the cuff at the arm. While wrapping the cuff around the higher arm, preserve the lower edge of the cuff one inch above the antecubital fossa, the area of the arm before the elbow.

Position the stethoscope. Lightly press the stethoscope bell over the brachial artery, simply under the decrease fringe of the cuff.

Inflate the cuff. Using the bulb, inflate the cuff to a hundred and eighty mmHg, then launch the usage of the valve at a mild rate of about 3 mm consistent with 2nd.

  • Listen and watch carefully

While examining the dial or mercury gauge, concentrate for a knocking sound with the stethoscope.

The first knocking sound represents the systolic blood strain of the patient. The point when the sound disappears in the meantime indicates the diastolic stress.

  • Repeat the manner on the opposite arm

For correct evaluation, it’s far encouraged that the blood pressure of both hands be measured. The difference in size of both palms, in addition to the patient’s position and cuff length, should be mentioned.

How to properly choose the right sphyg for you

Below is a list of the applicable elements one must recall earlier when selecting what sphygmomanometer to purchase.

  • Needs and Price

The right sphygmomanometer is determined by the wishes and necessities of its consumer. Aneroid sphygmomanometers provide readings of excessive accuracy but require enough know-how and information of coping with the tool.

Nurses, physicians, and experts should, consequently, search for durable, bendy, and excessive-accuracy devices consisting of these, which could resist heavy use.

Individuals searching to shop for sphygmomanometers for private use, in the meantime, may also take into account shopping sphygmomanometers which can be simplest to perform a number of the many types.

Digital sphygmomanometers are designed to be very consumer-friendly, especially for people who do no longer have any medical background. Price is any other determining component for what sphygmomanometer to purchase, and the allocated price range can fantastically slender down one’s decision.

The price variety of a respectable sphygmomanometer varies from 10 to 70 bucks, relying on the sort. Devices that fall within the better fee tiers are those designed for specialists who require excessive-acting units.

  • Accuracy

As with any clinical device, the accuracy of measurements is of extreme importance.

As mentioned in advance, the accuracy of sphygmomanometers in large part depends on its type–mercury sphygmomanometers provide the same old of measurements and is therefore of maximum accuracy; aneroid sphygmomanometers also offer readings of very excessive accuracy, however require sufficient knowledge and expertise of handling the device; digital sphygmomanometers generally tend to sacrifice convenience and simplicity of use for accuracy of measurements, compared to the opposite  sphygmomanometer types.

  • Quality, Design, and Cuff Size

Sphygmomanometers vary in line with their exceptional of cloth and design, all of which have an effect on the overall overall performance of the tool. Therefore, all components of a sphygmomanometer need to be of pinnacle-notch quality.

The cuff fabric, gauge, inflation bulb, and valve should all ideally be well constructed, non-sticking, and hypoallergenic.

A perfect gauge must have three hundred mmHg of pressure, and the bulb element should be constructed from latex-loose fabric.

For a sphygmomanometer, cuff length is also extraordinarily critical. Cuff sizes that might be both too unfastened- or tight-fit would possibly bring about wrong readings.

Therefore, one needs to make sure that the width of the sphygmomanometer cuff presents a size variety that could match its user perfectly, whether for private or scientific use.

For reference, 80% of the arm needs to be blanketed by using the air bladder of the cuff. Small cuff sizes are for arm diameters of 17 to 22 cm, medium cuff sizes are for 22 to 32 cm, and big cuff sizes are for 33 to 42 cm arm diameters. For medical experts, it’s far cautioned to buy a medium-sized cuff that can be adjusted to healthy sufferers’ larger and smaller sizes.

  • Convenience and Portability

Sphygmomanometers, whether or not used regularly and in one-of-a-kind places or bought for domestic use, has to be evaluated primarily based on convenience and simplicity of use.

Those who are looking to buy a sphygmomanometer specifically for domestic use can choose to keep a couple of dollars and select a tool that isn’t lightweight or pocket-sized.

Final thought

The importance of this device for hospitals, organizations, and households can never be over-emphasized. Your heart state and other health complications can be easily detected when the blood pressure is known.

Most times, heart diseases like hypertension is known as a silent killer and can only be detected using different types of sphygmomanometers. Always consult your healthcare provider while choosing the right sphygmomanometer suitable for you.
