Winter Hair Care Tips For

5 Winter Hair Care Tips

chibueze uchegbu | October 14th, 2022

The winter can have an impact on our health in many ways, it can dry out our skin, and hair as we go about our days tackling the elements.

It’s essential that we look after our hair all year round but especially in the colder months, to keep it healthy, shiny, and strong – there are easy ways to do this, from covering your hair when you leave the house, to getting your ends trimmed regularly. To find out 5 winter hair care tips for 2022, read on.

If you are suffering from hair loss in any season, it can be a worrying time, and although the cold weather is not associated with the loss of your flowing locks, other factors can have an impact on growth. If you are becoming self-conscious and would like to restore your style, a hair transplant turkey could be the best option for you.

How cold weather affects your hair

As the weather turns colder, we should be thinking of ways that we can keep our bodies healthy, including our skin and hair.

Although cold hair isn’t linked to hair loss, it can cause a few changes to your scalp. Cold air does not contain a lot of moisture, which means your hair can become drier and more brittle than normal.

During the winter months, you’ll have to look after your hair more carefully to keep it looking shiny and healthy – and not to mention, free of split ends! Luckily, there are a few tried and tested ways to ensure that your hair looks luscious all year round, which we will look at in more depth below.

  1. Get regular trims

The dry air that comes with the cold months of winter can have an impact on the moisture content of your hair, which is why we may develop split ends.

Cold air can often result in breakage, whilst other elements like snow, wind and rain can all be detrimental to the way your hair looks and feels – which is why it is so important to schedule regular appointments with your hairdresser so that you can maintain healthy locks. Keeping on top of having your hair trimmed, usually, every 4 to 8 weeks will reduce the look of dry, split ends over the winter season.

  1. Avoid styling with heat

This is something that we should try and avoid in excess anyway but styling your hair with extreme heat in the winter means you run the risk of drying and damaging your hair even more so. Your hair is more fragile during the winter from battling the elements and the dry air, so adding extreme heat to this is only going to make it worse and cause further breakage.

Embrace your natural hair in the winter to retain as much moisture as possible, and if you’re not in a hurry, try and give it a day off from blow drying a let it dry naturally indoors.

  1. Lower water temperature

We all know how tempting it is to get into the shower or bath in the winter to warm us up, but it is essential that you do not wash your hair in high temperatures, even if you’re chilly! Hot water removes oils that your hair needs to remain healthy and can dry out your scalp, which will result in it becoming itchy and flaky.

To maintain a healthy head of hair, shower at a lukewarm temperature, and better still, blast the ends of your hair with cold water, as this helps to seal the cuticles which keeps colour in and promotes shine.

  1. Cover your hair

There’s no better time to wear a hat or scarf in the winter, not just to keep you warm, but to protect your hair from the stresses that come with cold, dry weather. Although wrapping your hair up into a woolly hat or scarf can help, this can cause static – so if you can, choose a hat that is lined with a material that is good for your hair, like silk or satin to prevent this.

  1. Buy a humidifier

It may be tempting to turn on your electric heater when you get chilly for a warm blast of air, but this may not be the best thing to do when it comes to looking after your locks.

Heaters dry out the air in the room, causing your hair to become brittle and broken. Humidifiers work differently, they balance moisture in the air which causes lips, skin, and hair to dry out, so you can benefit from levels that allow your hair to remain healthy and moisturized.

Red Light Therapy for Anxiety and Depression

Red Light Therapy for Anxiety and Depression

chibueze uchegbu | October 13th, 2022

I bet you must’ve witnessed a wide range of people struggling with anxiety and depression. Haven’t you?

Conditions linked with depression should not be taken lightly. People often avoid talking about their feelings of sorrow and anger. That’s what makes things much worse!!

Globally, between 2 and 6 percent of the population has clinical depression. Many people also resort to suicide because they feel they have nowhere to turn from this “insurmountable” problem in their minds.

Depression-related conditions are not something that can be taken lightly. In many cases, people don’t want to speak about their depression and frustrations. And that’s what makes these conditions worse!!

Moreover, this depression or stress is most likely to be found among teenagers, middle-aged, and old-aged people. So you can see that it’s already an “emerging threat” to the world.

Through this article, I’ll guide you through all the ins and outs of how you can cure depression and how light therapy can be a better remedy for this condition.

So read the complete article to get yourself “enlightened!!!”

[lwptoc]

What Makes Light Therapy an Astounding Depression Curing Treatment?

Devices that use light therapy for the treatment of depression and anxiety have been developed specifically in the past few years.

The artificial light in these gadgets is designed to mimic natural sunlight and help regulate your body’s internal clock.

Moreover, the therapy consists of sitting near the light for a few minutes at a time, and both the therapy method and time must be kept consistent.

This treatment is a must-to-take for patients with:

  • SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)
  • Stress
  • Frustration
  • Sleeping issues (such as insomnia).

It usually takes between three and five days before you begin to feel the effects of the treatment. Although, in many circumstances, a full recovery will take some time, depending on the nature of your ailment.

These devices emit light that imitates the light of the sun and improves the circadian rhythm of your body. Circadian rhythm means the body’s inner clock that helps to maintain the overall body’s condition.

As mentioned earlier, the key to this is consistency. You will not see overnight results. However, if you schedule therapies for a certain period of time for a few weeks, you’ll see viable improvements. When you take the therapy regularly, you’ll be seeing changes within yourself.

Usually, it can take about 3 to 5 days to observe improvements within yourself. But if you don’t see any changes in the first week of use, you’ll see it in the second week for sure!!!

Although it might take some time to recover completely depending on the type of condition you are suffering from in many cases.

Possible Side Effects of Light Therapy

There are always going to be good sides and drawbacks to anything in this world, and we just have to accept that. However, there are little to no negative side effects to light therapy too.

So, if you have sensitive skin, eye conditions, or a history of cancer, you should always check with a doctor before proceeding with this therapy.

Further effects might include:

  • Severe or mild headache
  • Sleeplessness
  • Weariness
  • Dryness in the nasal passages and the eyes.
  • Hypomania

The positive side of light therapy is it’s very safe and straightforward to use. There are no chances of severe risks during this therapy, and you can use it without any fear. But it’s always an excellent choice to seek advice from your doctor before getting yourself one as he knows the best device for your condition.

Average Therapy Time for Each Session

The standard recommendation from professionals is to take 10,000 Lux (amount of light intensity).

This is due to the fact that the level of illumination provided by this source is comparable to that of early morning sunlight.

Initiating a regimen of light therapy can take as little as 15 minutes per session. Although these sessions can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, and the duration can be increased gradually.

But if you’re dealing with major depression symptoms, including seasonal affective disorder (SAD), you may require longer breaks.

You’re most likely to see progress within four to six weeks of therapy sessions.

Even though there are no signs of improvement within the first four to six weeks, you should definitely consult a doctor and tell him about your light therapy issues. The doctor might recommend changing the intensity of the therapy, or he might suggest other medications.

Although there are other treatment methods, for instance, if you are having severe issues with your condition, you can always go for sessions of a psychiatrist. And he might even prescribe you medications depending on the type of condition you have.

Other Therapy Methods to Tackle Anxiety and Depression

Here you’ll learn some simple, all-natural techniques through which you can say farewell to your anxiety and depression.

Routine

Many psychiatrists recommend setting a routine for everything you’ll be doing. Through this, you can control your depression as you are indirectly keeping yourself busy with your everyday routine. Then, there will be a time when this routine will become your habit, and the depression-related issues will be far gone.

Regular Scheduled Activity

A routine is something that many psychiatrists will recommend you establish. Depression can be managed in this way by remaining active with different and casual activities. When you stick to this schedule long enough, it can surely aid you in fighting depression.

Workout and Exercise

Working out regularly has shown to be a very effective treatment for depression. The reason for this is that engaging in physical activity provides a boost to the brain, which in turn improves mood. The positive effects will probably not be seen for some time. You will definitely notice a change, though.

Consuming a Nutritious Diet

A healthy diet is crucial to our daily functioning. Moreover, it has also been reported that regular intake of the right food will surely keep you active and away from depression. Omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods may also be helpful for people struggling with depression.

Cut Down Negative Thoughts

One of the main causes of depression is dwelling on negative thoughts. You will never be able to overcome your anxiety issues until you clear your head of these “cloudy thoughts of negativity.” When you feel these bursts of negativity, it’s best to distract yourself by reading or doing anything else productive.

Bottom Line

So, after going through this blog, you should know how red light therapy can benefit your anxiety and depression. However, to get the most out of your therapy sessions, it’s vital that you are consistent with these therapies. Along with these sessions, you can also take other natural therapy methods mentioned above.

How To Protect Your Mattress

Prolonging the life of your mattress doesn’t have to be difficult. Whether you have recently invested in a new one, looking to purchase a new mattress in the coming weeks, want to get the most bang for your buck, or simply want to ensure your existing mattress lasts as long as possible, this is the blog for you.

Below, we’ve taken a closer way at some of the best, not-so-obvious ways to prolong the life of your mattress.

[lwptoc]

Invest In A Mattress Topper

The first step to protect your mattress is by investing a good quality mattress toppers. Mattress toppers are available in all shapes, sizes, and depths, helping you to ensure you receive maximum comfort whilst keeping your mattress as good as new as possible. In addition to preventing bodily fluids and other substances from seeping into your mattress, a topper can make food and drink spills easy to clean up, which is great if you have children or pets. Check out the best mattress toppers for your bed.

Regularly Rotate Your Mattress

We know that rotating your mattress may not be at the top of your mind when it comes to protecting it, but trust us when we say that it’s one of the best things you can do to prolong its life.

Better yet, you don’t have to rotate your mattress every week or every time you change your sheets. Flipping it one to two times a year is enough to re-shift the filling inside, helping to re-even it out for a better night’s sleep. Give it a go!

Wash Your Sheets Every Week

We know that washing the bed sheets can seem like a chore, but it’s really important when it comes to preventing dirt and dust build up, which is great for not only your health but the life of your mattress.

That way, you’re preventing various fluids, oils, dead skin cells and so much more entering your mattress to fester for years to come. So the next time you think of changing your bedsheets another day, get it done!

No Pets Allowed

We get it. There’s nothing like getting cosy with your cat or dog after a long day of work, but it could be doing your mattress more harm than good! Not only does it increase your chance of getting sick, but parasites, fleas and ticks are more likely to be exposed to your mattress, duvet and bedding, which may trigger allergies or make you unwell. Not to mention that it may make training your four-legged friend more difficult.

Replace It

If all fails, why not consider replacing your mattress entirely? Experts recommended buying a new mattress every 6 to 8 years, so if you haven’t considered upgrading it recently, now could be the perfect excuse.

There are hundreds of high-quality mattresses available to purchase online and in-store, offering the ultimate comfort for a good night’s sleep.

So, there you have it! Protecting your mattress isn’t the minefield you may consider it to be and there are a few, small tweaks you can make to your existing lifestyle to reduce your mattress’s general wear and tear for months and even years to come if implemented quickly. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the stigma associated with mental illness and gain an appreciation for this population and the challenges they face while remaining as productive in society as possible.

Next Lori worked at a youth residential facility before moving on to work with children and families in the community, providing case management services such as teaching parenting skills, teaching parenting, and other groups, coordinating services within the community, and coordinating with other agencies to provide continuity of care.

Finally, while attending the Graduate School for Social Work at the University of Louisville, Lori worked in a clubhouse model for the chronically mentally ill, assisting them in obtaining job skills and life skills to assist them in integrating and functioning within society.

From there, a set of points will be chosen. After that, the acupuncturist will insert several very fine needles and leave them in place for about 15 minutes. Acupuncture is typically painless, and patients frequently report feeling extremely relaxed during and after treatment. Over the course of treatment, there is a cumulative benefit.

The original theory behind acupuncture treatment is that the flow of “qi” (often translated as “energy”) through a network of channels beneath the skin regulates the body’s healthy functioning. When the flow of qi is disrupted, illness occurs. By inserting fine needles at various points along the channels, the body’s balance can be restored and the illness resolved.

Zak Han has been practicing acupuncture for two decades using a combination of TCM meridian theory and related modern medical science, particularly in acupuncture manipulation based on the method of acupuncture at painful locality taken as acupoint, Jiaji being selected as the main acupoints and Back-shu acupoints of the Bladder Meridian as adjuvant acupoints, except the acupoints on the limbs, and the selected acupoint.

If the thought of Zak acupuncture makes you nervous about your wallet, reconsider. Zak Acupuncture Clinic in Harley Street provides affordable Acupuncture. The center’s location also makes it easy to reach Oxford Station.

42 Top Nursing homes in Wyoming

chibueze uchegbu | October 13th, 2022

Wyoming is an appealing retirement destination due to its senior-friendly tax policies, low crime rates, and cost of living that is slightly lower than the national average.

Home and community-based service providers, as well as institutional healthcare facilities, provide skilled care to the state’s 98,967 senior citizens. Wyoming has 33 regional medical centers and 38 nursing homes.

Nursing homes in Wyoming provide medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week to 2,224 residents who are elderly, disabled, or recovering from an injury or illness.

Related: Top residential care homes for the elderly

These facilities are appropriate for residents who do not require hospitalization but require skilled care that goes beyond what an assisted living facility or home health aide can provide.

Nursing homes in Wyoming typically charge $8,258 for a semi-private room and $8,714 for a private room, which is slightly higher than the national average, according to data from Genworth Financial’s 2020 Cost of Care Survey.

[lwptoc]

The Nursing Home Care Cost in Wyoming

According to Genworth Financial research, nursing homes in Wyoming charge an average of $8,258 per month. Rates are slightly higher than the national median of $7,756 and are typical of the majority of states in the region.

Seniors in Utah save $1,870 per month on long-term care because rates are significantly lower than the national average. Nebraska and South Dakota are less expensive by $1,064-$1,247.

In Montana, the median nursing home price is just below the national average at $7,665, representing a $593 monthly savings. Seniors in Colorado and Idaho, on the other hand, pay $259 and $411 more per month for nursing home care than their counterparts in Wyoming.

Wyoming’s largest cities have slightly higher average nursing home care costs than the state median. However, because there are only two metropolitan areas and seven micropolitan areas, data is limited.

Laramie is the most expensive option, with rates comparable to Fort Collins, Colorado, at $8,971. Cheyenne and Casper are slightly less expensive, with average prices of $8,547 and $8,456. Rates in these communities, however, are still $198 to $289 higher than the state median.

Seniors may also look for care outside of their state. In Billings, Montana, nursing home prices are comparable to the national median of $7,756. Nursing homes in Rock Springs, near Utah, are relatively inexpensive, with a median price of $5,627.

Nursing home care, which costs $8,258, is just one option available to seniors. Homemaker services, which cost an average of $5,362 per month, may benefit older adults who want to remain in their own homes.

These services cost $5,552 per month with medical assistance. At an average cost of $4,175, assisted living facilities offer apartment-style accommodations and one-on-one personal care. Adult day health care programs provide recreational activities in a group setting at a relatively low cost of $3,250 per month, which is nearly double the national average.

In Wyoming, does Medicaid cover nursing home care?

Medicaid covers nursing home care in Wyoming, which may include room and board, daily nursing, medications, therapy, and other services to meet a resident’s physical, psychological, and social needs.

The Wyoming Department of Health reported that 75,360 people had enrolled in Medicaid at some point during the fiscal year 2020. During the same year, the state’s Medicaid enrollment averaged 55,874 members per month.

Wyoming has the fewest certified nursing facilities of any state, with only 36 available. Wyoming Medicaid offers the Community Choices Waiver program to people who want to stay in their homes even though they require the nursing home level of care. This program aims to protect the welfare of Medicaid members while lowering the cost of needed services.

Eligibility

The Wyoming Department of Health considers each applicant’s income and assets when determining Medicaid eligibility. Single applicants have a $30,276 annual income limit and a $2,000 asset limit. The limit for two-person households is determined by the number of people applying for coverage.

If only one person requires Medicaid nursing home coverage, the applicant’s annual income limit is $30,276. While the applicant can only have $2,000 in assets, the non-applicant spouse can have up to $137,400 in assets.

The higher asset limit for non-applicants is due to the Spousal Impoverishment Act, which was passed to prevent one spouse from moving into a nursing home and leaving the other spouse living alone with insufficient financial resources. If both spouses are eligible for Medicaid, the asset limit rises to $3,000, but the income limit remains at $30,276 per person ($60,552 total).

A public health nurse must also conduct a needs assessment to determine whether an applicant requires nursing home care.

Applicants must also meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

  • Wyoming resident U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least five years verified as SSI eligible or hospitalized for 30 days
  • Blind, disabled, or over 65

Plastic surgeons in New Hampshire

Plastic surgeons in New Hampshire

chibueze uchegbu | October 12th, 2022

Ever wondered what it’s like to use the services of plastic surgeons in New Hampshire? Sometimes residents of a region are lucky to be surrounded by great conveniences; such is the reality in New Hampshire because of the caliber of plastic surgeons in New Hampshire.

Plastic surgeons offer outstanding services to people with various body transformation needs and accident victims. Due to their invaluable assistance, patients travel worldwide to seek their expertise and hope they get a lasting solution in their professional, crafty hands.

More so, these surgeons come in different capacities; New Hampshire houses many of them in their unique fields. In line with this, if you are still not sure about the job descriptions of plastic surgeons, we have your answer just below.

What is plastic surgery?

Plastic surgery is a field of medicine and surgery that focuses on reconstruction, restoration, and altering human body parts.

This medical specialty is divided into two sections; one deals with cosmetics, while the other deals with reconstruction. Plastic surgery helps people to regain back their lost confidence.

Related: Learn about BBL complications years later

Furthermore, having a medical degree in plastic surgery does not qualify you to pick up the scalpel. You must write a series of licensing exams to get a license to practice.

Who is a plastic surgeon?

A plastic surgeon is a professional medical surgeon that surgically corrects body defects and reconstructs defaulting human body parts.

It is not a profession you learn on the job; you must go through medical courses and clinical practices.

What does a plastic surgeon do?

Plastic surgeons work according to their area of specialty. Their job revolves around fixing what is seen as damaged, defective or broken in the human body.

They correct issues like severe burns, scars, and scarring tissues. Also, children born with cleft lips or cleft palates, or any other related congenital disability need to go under the expert scalpel of a plastic surgeon to correct the defect. The same goes for some accident victims; some injuries only get better or are healed through plastic surgical procedures.

You see, people who require the services of these doctors put their lives and future in their hands. Subtly, their job wraps around giving their patients’ lost confidence or self-esteem back to them. So, the position of a plastic surgeon transcends just surgery.

What type of surgery does a plastic surgeon do?

These doctors carry out various surgeries depending on the condition and its severity. Some of the surgery methodologies include

Fat transfer

Plastic surgeons transfer fats surgically from an abundant part to a part that needs them. They do this successfully by taking out fats from the region of the body with enough fat and moving to an area in need of the fat. This procedure is done for patients with uneven fat tone in their bodies.

Skin grafting

This surgery is a delicate procedure that takes skin from a healthy part of the body to a damaged area on the body that needs skin to heal up.

Expansion of tissues

Sometimes an area in the body may need help to grow more tissue. Plastic surgeons surgically expand tissues from a healthy part, expecting more tissues to grow.

Who pays for plastic surgery?

Plastic surgeries are done in private or public hospitals. Public hospitals, which are government-owned, subsidize the prices of these surgeries.

Usually, plastic surgeries are sometimes more expensive than some other surgeries, so the government makes them assessable for patients in need of it.

However, you must go through a panel of doctors to determine if your condition qualifies for plastic surgery. With a case that allows, the government-owned hospital may decide to take up the surgery at no cost to the patients or parents of the patients.

Furthermore, patients who need plastic surgery but prefer private hospitals usually pay for their surgeries themselves.

Plastic surgeries in private hospitals can cost a lot of dollars because of the extra care and equipment they use in the hospital, so well-off patients go to these private hospitals and pay more for extra attention.

Moreover, some insurance companies may cover this type of surgery for their policyholders. If insurance covers plastic surgery, the policyholder in need of it may get it at a significantly reduced price or full coverage because the insurance company will step in if they find the case worthy enough.

Can any doctor carry out plastic surgery?

Plastic surgery is not a general field or a surgery any doctor can manipulate. It is a specialized field that requires only qualified doctors to attend.

Though general surgeons can dabble into most less complicated surgeries, plastic surgery is not the type of surgery you dabble into.

Some cases may require more than one plastic surgeon in the theater. Since there are specialties, these doctors team up to give the patient a better chance to live again.

Are there risks in plastic surgery?

Yes, there are risks associated with this type of surgery, ranging from minor to severe. Most times, risks may arise from the incompetence of the surgical team or the negligence of the team and, by extension, the hospital. Again, it may arise from the kind of body of the patient or patient neglect.

However, some hospitals and surgeons record minimal risks and side effects of their procedures throughout their surgical years; some plastic surgeons in New Hampshire record little or no bad results after an operation.

List of plastic surgeons in New Hampshire

A good number of the practice are all in private business; however, they are qualified and have tons of experience. That notwithstanding, you should do your personal research to find out which hospital from our list best suits your need.

What Is CBGA? A Short Guide
SP

What Is CBGA? A Short Guide

chibueze uchegbu | October 11th, 2022

Did you know that CBD is not the only non-psychoactive substance found in a cannabis plant?

There’s also the lesser-known CBGA or cannabigerol acid. It’s known as the mother of all cannabinoids because the majority of cannabinoids (including THC) start off as CBGA.

But what is CBGA, and how could it improve your life? What’s the difference between CBD and CBGA?

Keep reading to discover everything you need to know about this cannabinoid, its unique benefits, and how it can be used.

[lwptoc]

What is CBGA Exactly?

A cannabinoid is a compound produced by the cannabis plant that interacts with receptors in our body called the endocannabinoid system, and there are around 113 different types.

Cannabigerol acid (CBGA) is a cannabinoid from which the majority of the 113 different cannabinoids are derived, and research on it is in its infancy when compared to CBD or THC.

Many people don’t know this, but cannabis plants don’t actually produce THC or CBD. They simply produce acidic cannabinoids which then convert to THC or CBD when exposed to heat.

Acidic CBGA converts to its non-acidic form CBG when exposed to heat. Similarly, CBDA converts to CBD.

CBG vs CBD: What’s the Difference?

The molecular structure of CBG and CBD is different, causing different effects on the cannabinoid receptors in our bodies.

Both are non-psychoactive and non-intoxicating, but CBG is more powerful than CBD because it came before it.

They have similar health applications but CBG may be better suited to treating muscle soreness, whereas CBD may work better for inflammation because it has less psychoactivity. CBG may increase your heart rate, while CBD may cause tiredness and fatigue.

Additionally, studies have shown that CBG works well as an appetite stimulant, which could potentially be used to treat a multitude of conditions that cause appetite loss. CBD doesn’t demonstrate this benefit.

CBG is typically harder to come by for purchase as it’s more costly to harvest. Many stores now stock a variety of CBD products, but CBG is difficult to find.

The Benefits of CBGA

Clinical studies have revealed numerous CBGA isolate benefits.

It’s demonstrated abilities as a potent antibiotic when compared to other cannabinoids, and even outperformed vancomycin — an existing powerful antibiotic that’s already on the market.

CBGA may also have anti-cancer properties and has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. However, more research is needed to confirm this.

It’s also showing promising results as a treatment for mood regulation, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease, and more.

How to Use CBGA Products?

You can consume CBGA the same way you take your CBD products, but it’s most commonly found in oil form. Due to its rarity and the difficulty of harvesting, it’s often sold combined with CBDA, hemp oil, or other beneficial ingredients.

A nursing home is an Intermediate Care Facility, or ICF, that provides a room, meals, and assistance to people with daily living needs.

Nursing home residents typically have physical or memory issues that prevent them from living independently. In terms of rehabilitation in skilled nursing facilities, hospitals make arrangements for post-acute patient care, such as after surgery.

When a patient is discharged from the hospital, he or she is transferred to a skilled nursing home to receive hands-on care from nurses.
