6 Myths About Medical Sales

So, it’s high time to dive deeper into all perks of this profession, therefore, let’s speak about major myths related to this job. At the end, you would have the perfect answer to Is medical sales a good career.

  • Myth 1: “A medical sales has a very high salary”

Of course, large pharmaceutical companies for the most part provide employees with competitive wages and a good social package.

However, there are also companies on the market that are ready to offer medical representatives remuneration that is much more modest and less attractive working conditions.

So, in some of them, the medical representative is not provided with a corporate car: the employee has either to use a personal car for work or use public transport.

Unfortunately, there are also employers who use gray pay schemes, companies that do not provide bonuses and where medical representatives sometimes have to invest their own money in marketing activities.

Thus, before accepting a job offer, it is necessary to carefully study the employment contract and discuss such details with future employers.

  • Myth 2: “Doctors prescribe drugs for money or gifts”

Often when asked how a candidate could influence the increase in sales of the company’s drugs, we hear about the material motivation of doctors.

In some cases, this may become one of the tools of medical sales. However, many companies strictly monitor the observance of ethical business practices, the policy of such companies forbids medical representatives not only to stimulate the increase in sales through gifts to doctors but also to pay opinion leaders to travel to international conferences or give lectures.

The work on drug promotion is based, first of all, on the professional interest of the doctor in the treatment of his patients, and the task of the medical representative is to clearly and convincingly inform the specialist that the company’s drugs are really successfully coping with this task.

  • Myth 3: “I want to work as a medical representative because I like communicating with people”

This is one of the typical answers of applicants to the question “Why would you like to work as a medical sales?”

The work of a representative is not just to communicate with people. The main goal is to convince the doctor to use the company’s products in his practice and, as a result, increase sales.

Mere communication – in the broadest sense of the word – will not achieve this goal. Communication with the doctor should be held at a high professional level, using various sales techniques. A high degree of involvement in the process is required from the medical representative.

In a word, if a candidate in the work of a medical sales is attracted solely by the opportunity to “communicate with people”, this may indicate that he is poorly aware of the specifics of this profession.

  • Myth 4: “You can become a medical representative only if you have a higher medical or pharmaceutical education”

In fact, higher specialized education is no longer a mandatory requirement for applicants in many pharmaceutical companies, including those included in the “big pharma”.

Trends in the labor market are such that, first of all, employers pay attention to the availability of relevant competencies and experience in sales. Thus, today it is quite possible to build a career in a pharmaceutical company without a specialized education.

  • Myth 5: “A medical sales has a free work schedule”

The work schedule of most medical sales is standard: an 8-hour working day and a five-day working week with two days off.

It is also worth considering that this profession is characterized by numerous overtime – a medical representative can conduct marketing activities on weekends, fill out reports after work, meet opinion leaders and escort them to the airport at any time of the day or night.

The huge number of business trips should also be taken into account. In addition, each medical sales has a schedule of visits (the number of visits can vary from 8 for a key account manager to 13-15 for a simple medical representative).

Many companies track the location of their employees, so there are very few chances to “skip” work, and there is no need to talk about a free work schedule.

  • Myth 6: “They will teach me everything”

Many applicants applying for the position of a medical sales really believe that they should not have any special knowledge and skills, believing that they will be taught everything as part of corporate training.

This is not true. Companies do provide training for employees, but you should not take them as a training program from scratch – in fact, they are aimed at honing existing skills and gaining additional (not basic!) knowledge.

Your motivation when choosing a position is very important, what do you want to get from this work, what advantages do you see for yourself, and how much they are higher or lower than the existing disadvantages?

What Is Theoretical Framework?

Before claiming something new and original in science, it is necessary to determine the methodology of one’s own research.

One of the difficulties in formalizing the study is the choice and specification of its theoretical basis. The fact is that in modern science there is no actual possibility to develop new knowledge without relying on what is known already.

This is the meaning of defining the theoretical basis of the study. To put it simply, before you “swing” at the formulation of the scientific novelty of your own scientific research, you need to check who has already carried out research on this issue, and what they relied on.

That is, there is continuity in science, which is usually voiced in their research in order to understand which theory preceded the birth of new knowledge.

What Can You Take as Your Theoretical Framework?

In order to choose a scientific basis, it is necessary that this basis be a solid one. This does not mean, “generally recognized”, because there are also revolutionary discoveries in science, and constant looking back at the existing authorities can just slow down science.

However, very often the basis can be scientific knowledge, which includes the conceptual apparatus used.

As a rule, it has already been developed, and in their research scientists one-way or another use terms and concepts that have a generally accepted meaning in science.

It is not superfluous just to indicate who exactly developed such a formulation, and then the researcher either follows these formulations, or clarifies them in his research in relation to any situation or problem.

That is, you must that what seems self-evident and does not raise questions may have once been revolutionary and was certainly developed by someone. In addition, to know your predecessors in science is a necessity for any scientist.

This also applies to theoretical hypotheses and concepts that have already been proven earlier in someone else’s scientific research. If something was already been proven in science, then it can already be used as a scientific basis.

We all know from geometry about the system of initial assumptions, axioms, and postulates, from which consequences and theorems derived subsequently.

A similar movement takes place in science, only with time already proven “theorems” can become the basis for further research if they pass the test in practice and turn out to be reliable knowledge.

COVID19 and South Korean pharmaceutical companies

The global coronavirus pandemic has hit South Korean pharmaceutical companies hard. Most of them suffered from falling revenues and losses due to poor overseas results due to the pandemic, a drop in prescriptions as people avoided hospitals, ongoing legal challenges, etc.

A few South Korean pharmaceutical companies reported higher revenues in 2020, including Yuhan Corporation.

Kolmar Korea’s sales increased dramatically in 2020, likely due to its involvement in the development and production of health and beauty products.

GC Pharma is now involved in vaccine development and treatments for cancer and infectious diseases.

Pharmaceutical drugs relating to cancer see high use rates, and the development in the field of infectious diseases has naturally occurred during the pandemic helping the company to increase its income.

After being admitted to a French hospital, you will need to show proof of your health insurance card (carte vitale), and you may be asked to show a notice certifying you are entitled to public healthcare (attestation).

The costs of emergency treatments in hospitals in Paris and hospitals in France are mostly covered by the French health authority but you will typically need to pay any outstanding balances upfront.

Pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar

Top 39 Pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar

chibueze uchegbu | January 27th, 2022

The Pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar are thriving from $600 million in 2016, and estimates are made that this number will almost double to over $1 billion by 2023, which explains the premise of this industry.

At the same time, the government is issuing stricter regulations in terms of transparency and quality assurance.

This will trigger a huge wave of investment, but not as risky as other neighboring countries due to Myanmar’s slower aging population.

Myanmar is known to have one of the poorest healthcare systems in the region and to address this, the government has increased spending on the health sector and introduced three National Health Plans (NHPs).

Aware of the numerous challenges and needs of the industry. , including a shortage of health care providers, poor data collection, and unreliable health insurance policies, the Department of Health and Sport (MOHS) has set an ambitious goal of achieving universal health coverage by 2030 by focusing on three main elements: population coverage, coverage of Services and Financial Protection.

To achieve this goal, MOHS established the National Health Network with the goal of providing access to better services and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for Burmese citizens.

In 2019, Myanmar Health Workers launched a five-year strategic plan (2019-2023) for the improvement of the public health sector in Burma with the aim of implementing 12 public projects in 76 municipalities in the states and regions of the country including disease control, reproductive health, maternal, child, newborn, and adolescent health, and nutrition campaigns.

However, these ambitious plans were severely hampered by the COVID19 pandemic and the February 1st coup d’état.

Challenges Faced by Pharmaceutical Companies in Myanmar

Myanmar’s healthcare industry is facing a significant shortage of facilities, technology, qualified nurses, and health reports.

Health education providers may find business opportunities in Myanmar as training and capacity-building services for medical workers are in high demand.

Myanmar lags behind in medical technology, from poor management of patient records to advanced diagnostic treatment methods. Limited internet connection coverage in remote areas makes telemedicine services difficult.

Myanmar has a very competitive pharmaceutical market compared to other ASEAN countries and the market attracts a growing number of foreign pharmaceutical companies and is dominated by imports.

Myanmar imports about 80 percent of medicines from other countries. According to a local market research agency,  total drug spending in Myanmar has increased by 11 percent every year, with the value of the drug market expected to reach $1.1 billion by 2023.

Conclusion on the pharmaceutical companies

With the slow opening of the Myanmar market,  significant growth potential can be achieved. To date, a large number of medicines are imported from India, Thailand, Bangladesh, or China.

The government opened the manufacturing sector just recently in 2013. There are currently about ten manufacturing plants under construction or already in operation.

The government is faced with the task of establishing clear regulations combined with a transparent procurement policy that promotes domestic drug production.

This will help tackle some of the challenges faced by pharmaceutical companies in Myanmar.

Best List of Pharmaceutical companies in Thailand

The list of Pharmaceutical companies in Thailand will continue on their positive growth course since efforts are being made to reform the regulatory procedures for registering innovative medicines, helping Thailand to attract more foreign investment into its domestic pharmaceutical industry.

However, given the comparatively low affordability and poor access to healthcare, the market will primarily be suitable for generic manufacturers

Thailand is one of the leading pharmaceutical markets in Southeast Asia. The universal health insurance system has made medicines more affordable and accessible to all citizens and has contributed to the increase in sales in the medicines market in Thailand.

The government has also presented a strategic plan to develop Thailand as the medical hub in Asia to attract foreign patients and medical tourists. This is expected to contribute to the healthcare industry including the pharmaceutical market.

List of Pharmaceutical Industry Performance in Thailand

From 2013 to 2018, pharmaceutical sales in Thailand grew at an average of 4.5% per year. Although many of the pharmaceutical manufacturing sites are concentrated in developed economies, there were still 144 Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standardized pharmaceutical manufacturing sites in Thailand.

With available resources, pharmaceutical manufacturing in Thailand has generated more than 75 billion Thai baht worth of medicines in the country in recent years.

In terms of distribution, there were about 14,000 pharmacies in the country excluding hospitals. These pharmacies were one of the most important types of drug distribution channels. In 2019, however, around fifth thousand pharmacies have been closed to not fulfill the GMP standards.

Strengths of the Pharmaceutical industry in Thailand

  1.   The establishment of a universal healthcare system leads to better access to healthcare.
  2.  Strong growth in the hospital sector, reflecting the continuous modernization of the healthcare industry.
  3.   The significant growth potential of the pharmaceutical market, is heavily dependent on government interest in pharmaceutical sector development.
  4. Government policies to reduce the cost of medicines by encouraging a switch to generics.

Weaknesses

  1.   Low drug expenditure per capita.
  2.   A high number of counterfeit and parallel imported medicines in the country.
  3.   Uncertain price regulation and weak intellectual property protection.
  4.   The government’s reimbursement policy for medicines is heavily biased towards local medicine manufacturers and excludes many modern medicines.

  • What is the procedural structure when issuing licenses for the distribution of a medicinal product in Thailand?

Companies and individuals wishing to market a drug  must:

  1. Obtain a license from the FDA to manufacture, sell or import drugs domestically for sale in Thailand. The license must be renewed every year and is valid from  January 1st. until 31st Dec of every year. The licensee who obtains a manufacturing license or an import license is also entitled to sell its manufactured or imported medicines, but only wholesale (Article 15 of the Medicines Act).
  2. After receiving the import license, obtain a permit to import drug samples.
  3. Submit a complete regulatory submission, including samples, to the FDA for review and registration. The marketing authorization for each product must also be renewed.
  • What are the Different Categories of Drugs for Distribution?

Under the Medicines Act, there are three main categories of medicines:

  • Common home remedies, which are equivalent to over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. Products in this category can be sold without a prescription and do not require a pharmacist. are sold by parties other than retail pharmacies, distributors, and wholesalers as these products do not require a license to sell. For example, a supermarket or supermarket may sell common home remedies, such as acetaminophen 500 mg in packs of 4 or 10, simethicone, normal saline, aluminum hydroxide tablets, oral rehydration salts (ORS), etc licensed practitioners such as a doctor, dentist, nurse, veterinarian or pharmacist.
  • Dangerous medicines can be sold without a prescription, but only a pharmacist should dispense them. Most medicines in Thailand fall into this category.
  • Specially controlled medicines, which can have potentially harmful effects if misused, are only available by prescription. Also, some specially controlled drugs are only available in hospitals.

Conclusion

Thailand’s pharmaceutical market has grown significantly in recent years due to impressive developments in the public health system.

Limited state drug coverage and a shortage of physicians are, however, currently restraining the market.

In 2019, Thailand’s pharmaceutical market was valued at US$5.9 billion. In 2020, forecasts show that the market could grow by 4.5% and reach a value of USD 6.4 billion. The market will reach a value of USD 6,900 million, and will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.1%.

Thailand represents a significant growth opportunity for multinational pharmaceutical companies looking to expand their presence in the emerging markets of the Asia-Pacific region.

Best pharmaceutical companies in Iran

chibueze uchegbu | January 24th, 2022

The pharmaceutical companies in Iran are one of the most developed in the Middle East and  North Africa (“MENA”) region.

While originally Iranian pharmaceutical manufacturers only made over-the-counter (OTC) and generic drugs, they have since evolved into manufacturing more sophisticated drugs used in the treatment of various types of cancer, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis.

International sanctions have forced Iran to transition from, importing almost 100% of its pharmaceutical supplies, to manufacturing more than 60% locally.

This ensures the supply of vital medicines. Health insurance companies are among the largest market  drivers in the pharmaceutical industry

The Pharmaceutical Market Size in Iran

At the end of 2019, the Iranian pharmaceutical industry was valued at EUR 2.5 billion annually and is projected to grow to EUR31 billion by 2024.

With Iran currently producing 90% of the medicines for its people, Iranian manufacturers are now prioritizing developing partnerships with foreign pharmaceutical companies to improve the industry and quality standards.

Locally manufactured medicines are mainly generic and over-the-counter medicines, with some prescriptive proprietary ones, while imported medicines mainly consist of more expensive branded specialty medicines.

As a result, 10% of imported medicines exceed local products by units of value. In 2020, Iran’s pharmaceutical exports amounted to 90 million euros, mainly destined for Central Asia.

In recent years, the use of herbs and traditional medicines has increased in Western countries, giving Iran an opportunity to export these products to European markets, especially Germany. In 2019, pharmaceutical imports from Iran to Germany amounted to 26.95 million euros.

Challenges Faced by the Pharmaceutical Companies in Iran

Iran’s pharmaceutical industry needs modern production technologies and ways to increase savings.

Years of underdevelopment, economic slowdown, and subsequent lack of funding severely hampered the industry’s growth.

Public and private funds remain tight, reducing investment in research and new product development.

Innovative financing, for example via investment banks and specialized investment companies, is a new growth area.

The listing of shares on national stock exchanges by pharmaceutical companies also offers untapped potential for the development of new products. Mergers and acquisitions have helped to some extent to consolidate the sector and build large pharmaceutical holdings and more complete production chains.

Impact of Covid19 on the pharmaceutical companies in Iran

The global pandemic has prioritized spending on fighting COVID19 and reduced allocations for other important medicines to treat other diseases.

However, this is seen as a temporary change while the pandemic has strengthened international collaboration both to combat COVID19 and within the pharmaceutical sector in general.

In Iran, the pandemic is responsible for accelerated approvals of treatments related to Covid19 due to the IML and drug registration process.

Conclusion

Since 2019, the Iranian authorities have delivered a complete medical insurance plan to all Iranians to cowl simple clinical costs.

This plan covers 70 % of the value of drugs with extra insurance for people with uncommon diseases.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), all the medications included in the ultra-modern model of the WHO List of Essential Medicines are to be produced in Iran; with 100% coverage insurance.

How to become a Naturopathic Doctor

How to become a naturopathic doctor

chibueze uchegbu | January 24th, 2022

The quest to know How to become a naturopathic doctor prompted this article which explains the essentials you need in this career path

While modern medicine adopts contemporary medical practices, it also embraces traditional remedies.

Therapies such as yoga, massage, herbs, acupuncture, exercise and the likes have been synthesized with modern medicine and new-age medical professionals are accommodating these archaic medical traditions.

Naturopathy is no modern practice of medicine, but as new ideas are explored and new diseases discovered, the need to arrive at a finite diagnosis and a permanent, effective cure, is pertinent.

Naturopathic doctors practice medicine, however, the methods of practice might be slightly different from that of a medical doctor (MD) or a doctor of Osteopathy (DO). This, on one hand, does not disprove fact that Naturopathic doctors (ND) are doctors.

The heart of this article is on the steps to becoming a naturopathic doctor. However, some areas crucial to the discourse will be explored, succinctly.

While making a copious explanation for the required step to becoming an ND, it is also necessary to explain what naturopathy is, who a naturopathic doctor is, and what they do.

Hence, this article seeks to answer the following;

  • What is Naturopathy?
  • Who is a naturopathic doctor?
  • The role of a naturopathic doctor.
  • How to become a naturopathic doctor.
  • Accredited courses in a naturopathic medical school.
  • The difference between an ND and an MD.[lwptoc]

What is Naturopathy?

There are many fields in medicine that are not exactly as popular as the others, but they do exist and play significant and peculiar roles in promoting and achieving healthy living.

The practice of naturopathic medicine is not a common name in most countries. However, naturopathy does not offer ‘make-do’ treatments, it proffers an absolute cure.

Naturopathy is a system of treatment of diseases that ducks the use of drugs and surgery and emphasizes the use of natural remedies.

The core of naturopathy is attaining total healing through the use of natural or traditional remedies, which would enable the body heal itself. Naturopathy was introduced to the United States in the early 19th century by Germany.

Most methods applied by a naturopathic doctor stemmed from age-long practices, which were later fused with modern science.

The new methods applied employs therapeutic exercises such as yoga, massage, meditation, the use of herb, acupuncture, homeopathy, psychotherapy and the other types of alternative medicine.

Naturopathic medicine is also synonymous to preventive, holistic, alternative and functional medicine. So, naturopathy is resolving to natural agents for whole body healing.

Who is a naturopathic doctor?

Like other Medical doctors (MDs), a naturopathic doctor (ND) is a doctor, professionally trained to identify the cause(s) of illnesses in a bid to discover a final remedy, using herbs, exercise, meditation, massage, hydrotherapy, and nutrition to bring about wellness and balance.

NDs employ alternative medical therapies alongside natural remedies to ensure that a patient enjoys optimum health results.

NDs also attend medical school like MDs and DOs, but they perform different roles.

The role of a Naturopathic doctor

Medical doctors spend a shorter time with patients in the consulting room, however, naturopathic doctors spend an average of 30-60minutes with a patient.

The roles of a naturopathic doctor are therefore unique, because they;

  • Identify and treat the underlying cause of an illness: a naturopathic doctor would usually engage their patients in conversations regarding their health, lifestyle and environment. These are not routine questions alone as they intend to identify the illness in order to treat it completely. Before they resort to conventional medical practice, they attempt natural remedies and alternative medicine to get rid of the illness.
  • Approach a medical condition using a sparingly invasive but the most effective method: NDs are deliberate about natural methods as panacea to medical conditions. Hence, naturopathic doctors prescribe natural treatment and alternative ones in order to cure the disease or medical condition suffered by the patient. The least detrimental but most effective methods are employed by NDs to approach medical conditions.
  • Treat the whole person: MDs would normally prescribe temporary treatment for a disease, but an ND undergoes a holistic treatment to extirpate the disease.

A career in naturopathic medicine is very lucrative. However, medicine is not a “walk-into” career. If you are interested in using natural means and procedures to treat ailments or diseases, then you are treading the naturopathic medicine path.

It might also interest you that becoming a naturopathic doctor is possible, only after paying heed and meeting the crucial requirements. Take note as this is the crux of this discourse.

How to become a Naturopathic doctor

While you envision a career in naturopathy, it is imperative to note that medical school births the first half of the most challenging years in your life as a medical practitioner.

Leaving that aside, to begin a naturopathic career, you would need to meet the following requirements;

  • Earn a bachelor’s degree in any medical-related field.
  • Enroll in a naturopathic medical school.
  • Sit for and pass the NPLEX.
  • Enroll for a postgraduate residency programme.
  • Obtain licensure.

Earn a bachelor’s degree: to begin a career as a naturopathic doctor, you must have earned an undergraduate degree in any medical-related field.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in any medical-related field is the minimum entry requirement into naturopathic medical school.

Needless to say, the foundation of this step begins in high school, where the basics of core subjects like chemistry, biology and physics are taught.

Enroll in a naturopathic medical school: obtaining a baccalaureate degree in any medical major qualifies you for entry into a naturopathic medical school.

A naturopathic medical school is usually for four years and must be accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME).

Sit for and pass the NPLEX: Naturopathic doctors are required to sit and pass the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examination (NPLEX).

Upon completion of the 4-year naturopathic degree programme, an ND must pass a postdoctoral board exam. Excelling at this step, makes NDs eligible for obtaining license.

Enroll for a postgraduate residency programme: residency could take 1-2years. NDs are privileged to work with adept professionals in naturopathic medicine.

At this point, fresh graduates of naturopathic medicine, work with patients under close supervision of expert naturopathic medical doctors (NMDs).

Obtain licensure: there is no universal procedure or requirement for obtaining a license in naturopathic medicine, as procedures differ according to states. However, passing the NPLEX and residency is sacrosanct.

I would like to reiterate that NDs are doctors, they obtain a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine, after attending naturopathic medical school.

Like medical doctors, naturopathic doctors get around 1500 hours training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, clinical physical diagnosis, genetics, pharmacology, microbiology, and other clinical science topics.

NDs also go hundreds of hours training in core methods of naturopathy, like botanical/herbal medicine, traditional Asian medicine, acupuncture, counseling, homeopathy, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, and clinical nutrition.

The curricula of a naturopathic medical school varies but there are courses common to all.

Accredited courses in a naturopathic medical school

All courses taught in a naturopathic medical school, must be accredited by the CNME. In the course of studying, a naturopathic medical student is expected to cover courses, such as ;

  • Health psychology
  • Clinical laboratory diagnosis
  • Spinal evaluation and management
  • Botanical medicine

Health psychology: the student will be expected to learn about the role mental health plays, in total wellness and how to manage these disorders in a primary care setting.

Clinical laboratory diagnosis: students must grow familiar with common laboratory tests that can support diagnosis and treatment.

Spinal evaluation and management: students are expected to engage in the continuous practice of examining the spine and its related anatomy as well as diagnosing and treating simple abnormalities.

Botanical medicine: study how medicinal plants can be selected, prepared, and administered to promote wellness and treat health issues.

The general courses, however, cover anatomy and physiology, patient care, clinical sciences and naturopathic treatment modalities.

Very importantly, naturopathic students also complete clinical rotations at teaching, community, and specialty clinics. They begin with this step, then progress to treating patients but under supervision.

The average physician performs an entirely different role or would not be as patient as an ND in terms of consulting. The similarity between the duo, is that they are doctors, can attend to patients, issue prescriptions and are interested in the wellbeing of their patients. However, there are major differences between the two.

The difference between an ND and an MD

MD is the acronym for a Medical doctor while ND stands for a Naturopathic doctor. The goal of the contrast is not intended to glorify or abase one over the other. It is just to draw a fine line of demarcation.

The duties of a naturopathic doctor differs from that of a medical doctor for these reasons;

  • The focus of an ND is to ensure that a patient is totally cured, an MD attempts to combat the disease.
  • NDs spend between 30 and 60minutes with visiting patients, MDs could spend a minimum of 15minutes.
  • NDs resort to diet, herb, exercise and other alternative treatments, MDs prescribe pharmaceutical products.
  • NDs perform a holistic treatment, however, MDs treat one condition at a time.
  • Follow up/Check up for patients of a naturopathic doctor are consistent and frequent, this does not apply with MDs.
  • MD students see hospital-based patients during their rotations, ND students see patients in primarily out-patient clinical settings at naturopathic clinics.

Naturopathic doctors and Medical doctors are valuable assets in the field of medicine. In fact, the presence of both is ideal for a patient.

Naturopathic medicine is beneficial, however, not all universities are accredited for the Naturopathic school of medicine. Nonetheless, I will be making a list of accredited naturopathic medical schools, below:

  1. National University of Natural medicine (NUNM), Portland, Oregon.
  2. Canadian College of Naturopathic medicine (CCNM), Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
  3. National University of Health Sciences (NUH), Lombard.
  4. Bastyr University (BU), Seattle, Washington and San Diego, California.
  5. Boucher Institute of Naturopathic medicine (BINM), British Colombia
  6. Southwest College of Naturopathic medicine & Health sciences (SCNM), Tempe, Arizona.

Final Thoughts on how to become a naturopathic doctor

You have learned what naturopathy is and what it takes to become a licensed naturopathic doctor (ND). It is a rigorous process and an earnest career, however, it is profitable.

For clarity and ease of understanding, we have highlighted step by step process of how to become a nurse in Canada as a foreigner.

  • Secure a Nursing Degree

Canada invests a lot in its healthcare. Therefore, a good number of the provinces and regions in the state don’t settle for anything less than a Nursing Degree.

Canada has a service assessment platform that helps international nurses gain licenses to practice after passing the test. The platform is  NNAS is the National Nursing Assessment Service . You will need to apply then provide the necessary requirements and documents.

The NNAS assessment is mandatory for all international nurses wishing to study in Canada. Except for Quebec and its territories.

Requirements

  • Identification Documents (Passport, Birth Certificate, National ID card)
  • Attestation from previous workplace or Institution.
  • Acquired Nursing certifications.

Application Fee: CAD765

After you register with the NNAS, you have one year to return all the required documents. Once you return all your documents, you should be approved by the NNAS, though it can take up to one year to complete. Once you receive permission to apply for licensure, you can begin the application process.

The NNAS provides an initial assessment of your credentials and matches these with comparable Canadian standards. There is an online guide available for you to learn more about the NNAS.

You are required to take an English exam as well as the NNAS if you don’t provide proof of fluency in the English language.

If you are hoping to work in Quebec, you must also take a French exam. The NCLEX exams are used to determine your ability to speak the English language.

  • Obtain an NCLEX License

In other parts of the country, this test is available as the NCLEX-RN exam, provided by NCSBN, or National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

The purpose of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is to ensure that you are fit to practice nursing.

As a foreigner looking for nursing jobs in Canada, you need to know that any nurse trained in North America has to pass this exam. It is a computerized, multiple-choice intuitive exam. To prepare for the exam, there are several online tutoring options.

One interesting aspect of NCLEX is that you can repeat the exam if you didn’t scale in the first sitting.

Pharmaceutical companies in Turkey

Best list of pharmaceutical companies in Turkey

chibueze uchegbu | January 22nd, 2022

The pharmaceutical companies in Turkey account for about 0.5% of the $1.2 trillion global pharmaceutical markets and have grown steadily over the past decade.

In addition to increasing its production, the industry has also dedicated itself to further RandD projects and the production of high-quality medicines. In 2018, Turkey was recognized as part of the  PIC(s) International Alliance of Pharmaceutical Jurisdictions and takes a place on the global stage in implementing its localization policy.

In early 2020, Turkey faces one of its biggest challenges yet due to the outbreak of COVID19. Global supply disruptions, capital flight, and what is said to be the biggest global economic crisis since the Great Depression are threatening the industry.

Biotech players in particular are less likely to take advantage of the crisis due to their reliance on external funding. However, despite the unfavorable framework conditions, Turkish pharmaceutical manufacturers have repeatedly proven to be resilient.

Local and international manufacturers operating in the country are already playing an active role in the fight against the virus.

GBR conducted much of the research for this publication prior to the outbreak of COVID19  and we have attempted to update the report with new knowledge brought about by the pandemic where possible.

However, it is already clear that the pharmaceutical industry in Turkey will play a bigger role in the coming years than ever before.

Laboratories and production lines remain manned as pharmaceutical companies in Turkey struggle to supply the country’s hospitals with the medicines and supplies they need during this time of crisis.

The fact that they have been so successful so far is a testament to the strength that the industry has already achieved.

Innovations in the Pharmaceutical Markets in Turkey

The Turkish government aims to make Turkey one of the top ten economies in the world in healthcare services by 2023 by increasing R and D spending to 3% of GDP and increasing exports to USD 500 billion.

In addition, according to Turkey’s Ministry of Science and Industry and the Technology (AIFD) Strategy Report, Turkey should become Eurasia’s manufacturing base of mid and high-end technology products.

“Health Care Transformation Programme” was initiated in Turkey in 2004 and marked a major advance in public access to health services. This made treatments in Turkey also increase by 24% over the past 30 years.

According to a study by Columbia University professor Lichtenberg and the National Bureau of Economic Research,  innovative drugs were responsible for 75% of the increase in life expectancy in the 30 countries surveyed including Turkey.

If the government can implement essential changes and effectively promote innovation in the healthcare system, the pharmaceutical industry can be the driving force to help achieve the government’s public health and economic goals.

However, in order to achieve sustainable progress in healthcare, Turkey must also focus on improving its competitive position.
